Make up brushes have their own specific area of specialty. You should use your natural brushes for the application of powder cosmetics (such as eye shadows, blush, etc) while synthetic brushes, for cream based make up (like lip stick, concealer, cream based foundation).

It is also imperative that you use a different make up brush for light make up and another different brush for darker make up. And most importantly, whether you own natural or synthetic brushes, you have to always keep them clean. Just rinse them out with a make up brush solution or just a regular hypo- allergenic shampoo and dry over night, laying flat on their side for their shape to be retained. When you notice that the make up brush suddenly have developed tattered bristles, it means that it is time to buy new ones.

These tattered bristles are usually caused by wrong storage. To prevent your brushes from getting damaged, it is best to store them in a zipper free bag for them to avoid getting caught in it. And for hygienic reasons, do not share make up brushes. It is a personal device, just like a tooth brush. Invest in your own set to avoid getting any surprising skin infections.
